Research Experiences:

  • Submitted a thesis entitled “Evaluation of the results of total knee replacement arthroplasty in chronic knee disorder” to the faculty of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi-110029, in June 1995.

  • Worked on ICMR project “Free vascularized bone and joint transfer, an experimental basis” at AIIMS from 30.8.1996 to 31.10.1997.

  • Working on CSIR research project “Posterior lumbar interbody fusion using titanium cages in intractable mechanical low backache” w.e.f. 23.04.2001 to 22.04.2004 in the Department of Orthopaedics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi-110029, India.

A brif summary of Scientific Work being done at Apllo Gleneagles Hospital Kolkata:

  • Started deptt of spine surgery looking exclusively after the patients having spine related problems. This is the first independent spine surgery unit in west bengal

  • Done the first artificial cervical disc replacement in the northeren , eastern and western part of the country for the first time.

  • Surgery for scoliosis or hunch back deformity is being done exclusively in this part of the country only in this department.

  • Only doctor in eastern india who is doing disc removal surgery by endoscopic method

  • Doing specialised surgery for tb of spine bone and correcting associated spine deformities using latest sophisticated instrumentation technology

  • Surgical correction of advanced vertebral slip (high grade spondylolisthesis) is being done exclusively at this centre only.

  • Doing advanced surgery for cervical and lumbar spondylosis related comlications using modern instumentation systems

  • Part of team managing pain clinic which is one of its kind in eastern part of the country and looking after and treating patients having intractable back and neck pain which is not getting relieved by conventionalk medicines and surgery.

  • Conducted a workshop at apollo to train young orthopaedic surgeons and postgraduate medical students in the use of modern spine pedicular insrumentation systems;

  • Was the organising secrectary of spine section for annual orthopaedics conference held at apollo hospital kolkata in nov. 2005.
